6 Steps to Teach Kids to Brush Properly

Until they reach the age of 9, children need the guidance of their parents or an adult in brushing their teeth in the right manner. The first that the adult should do is to let the child do it. After that, they should show the kid the right way to keep their teeth healthy.

The two things that they will need are a tube of toothpaste with fluoride content and a toothbrush that is small in size with very soft bristles. Once their teeth are complete, the adult can teach the kid how to floss in between their dentures.

Using the appropriate toothbrush for your children can help keep their teeth clean and white? Many dentists recommend to use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean and polish teeth without hurting your enamel or gums, resulting in teeth straightening. Their brush should be the right size and form for their mouth so that it can easily reach all of their teeth. Here are easy tips in teaching a child how to brush his teeth as suggested by professionals Dentist in Stockport

 • First step:

Press the toothbrush against the outer parts of the gums. The bristles of the toothbrush must be facing the gums. Push the brush in an up-and-down manner against one tooth. Then teach him to move to the next tooth.

• Second step:

Press the bristles to face the inside of the teeth. Using the up and down motion, you can teach him how to brush the inner parts of the teeth.

 • Third step:

It is time to concentrate on the molars. Tell him to press the bristles against the surface of the bottom molars. Instruct him to do a forward and backward move on this area. Do the same for the upper molars. •

Fourth step:

Tell him to face the bristles right at the back part of the teeth. Brush this part with an up-and-down movement.

• Fifth step:

Teach him how to gently brush the surface of the tongue and the gum line. This is very important because the grooves of the tongue are the perfect place for bacteria to hide and breed. If this is not taught, the bacteria will eventually produce a foul smell in the kid’s mouth.

• Sixth step:

It is important that the adult teaches the kid how to floss properly and why is this important. Dentists say that starting the kids young will always be a big plus and these lessons will be carried by the kid until he grows up.
